Description Of A Building Prior To Its Demolition Text installation June 2011 Shown as part of the Folkestone Triennial Fringe 2011, 25th June - 25th September A disused Church building stands on Foord road, Folkestone. Empty and decayed it awaits demolition. As it approaches the end of its existence Jim Lockey has created a text that describes the building and imagines its history using metaphors based in the building’s decaying features and past religious context. The description morphs into a discussion of history, memory and how architecture operates when separated from useful function. 'Jim Lockey's Description of a Building Prior to its Demolition is a beautifully composed poetic eulogy.' -Folkestone Fringe This project was made possible thanks to the support of Harbour Community Church, Folkestone.
